Good Morning Chucky heads.
I wanted to make this thread because everyone has different tastes in movies and there are movie that have a general consensus of not being well received by audiences.
Now on some level this could be because the movie does actually suck, or it could be because as a society we tend to take apart the watch instead of just seeing a watch for what it is which of course it is... a watch.
We see these arguments here all the time about people who loved Seed of Chucky, and even though I am one of these fans that didn't like it I do have a list of movies that have bad raps and I adore regardless.
With that said here are few films that I like but most wouldn't:
Superman Returns- this one gets a lot of flack for some reason. Even in the movie "Ted" they made a joke about how horrible it was. I love this movie and I thought it paid great tribute to the late Christopher Reeve who once dawned the red cape. I'll even go as far to say that the opening credits gave be goosebumps because of the impact the orginal movies had on me as a child. It was like seeing something old, yet new. I saw it 4 times in theaters, and the audience clapped every time, and gave standing ovations 3 out of those 4 times. The more trailers I see for Man of Steel makes it more appealing, but I liked this movie, and would have liked to have seen where it could have gone from here. A Superman back story is overdone, so I feel Man of Steel has big red boots to fill IMHO. Someone please tell me why this movie gets ragged on so much.
Green Lantern- I will admit that this one fell somewhere between "Steel" and "Spider-Man" in terms of quality, and story depth. In short even though the story was weak, and Ryan Reynolds was more or less playing the same old charcter he usually plays on other films; I found this film to be very entertaining, and it was a decent place holder for upcoming DC movies like TDKR or MoS.
Enemy Mine- Now some of you are going to be offended by my next statement but I hold this movie with more accolade than I do any of the Star Wars movie as far as sci-fi flicks go. This movie made me look at life in a different perspective. It made me laugh, cry, jump out of my seat, and taught me not to be prejudice towards others. I don't know why it is not recognized as a great film, even Family Guy made jokes towards it's unpopularity but damn it I love this film.
There are many others that I could name but these will do for now. So please tell me, what movies are your guilty pleasures?
