Anyone else from L.A. or California?
I remember seeing the original childs play trilogy on vhs at the video rental store when I was a little kid, the box covers alone scared me. Being around Andy's age at the time these came out, I had cabbage patch dolls & things like teddy ruxpin were big, so Chucky really struck a chord of fear for me. I'd run when the commercials came on & going to bed I could imagine him hiding somewhere.
Some kids on the playground would brag about having watched them & would talk about the movies as an eager circle of kids listened, later having seen them myself, I know they were full of bologna as it doesn't match thier descriptions at all.
It wouldn't be until I was in middle school that I'd get the chance to watch them. They aired in october on the channel usa, on tnt's monster vision with joe bob briggs & yes even on the spanish channel, even though I don't know spanish. I was in high school when bride came out, but since I didn't know anyone over 18 who cared about it, I had to wait to watch it on a new invention at the time called a dvd.
Before the world wide web was in every home, I used to go to the library & look in movie books for behind the scenes pictures & go to the comic book store to see if fangoria type magazines had any pictures of him too.
I went to theatres to watch seed & just my luck that the only time I see a chucky movie new in theatres, I would live to regret. I gave it another chance a few years ago on netflix since it was free to see if maybe I'd just built it up too much... nope same feeling. And that's coming from a fan of some of John Waters movies too.
I'm glad to be with you all here on this great fan forum.
