Good Morning Everybody!
For those of you who know, I am a very enthusiastic Action Figure Collector. Sometimes I think about finally throwing in the towel but then a company will go ahead and make something so awesome that I can't resist. So even though I am 31 years old, I don't think I'll ever stop being a Toys "R" Us kid.
Besides when a company like Mattel goes ahead and makes modern versions of figures like He-Man or "Macho Man" Randy Savage, then slaps a lable on the package saying "Adult Collector" they obviously aren't expecting 5 to 12 year olds to buy these products. They were made FOR ME!!!!
So, as you can imagine I had a few wants for my ever growing collection, and I acuired some of these wants within the confines of a month. Normally I don't share things like this on this site, but these are too cool to not gloat about so without further adieu...
First up, collector worthy Power Rangers. S.H. Figuarts style.
These are made by Bandai... of Japan. Sorry, but Bandai of America has yet to impress me and when they do, Bandai of Japan totally smokes them in the end anyway. These are also made in collaboration with Tamashi Nations, and BlueFin... I think.
Anyway, these are the Power Rangers we've been waiting for. Any pose you can think of they can just about do. They have so much articulation they make Marvel Legends look primative. You can even pull down their legs and pose them up for high round house kicks. (P.S. They also make Dragon Ball Z figures under the S.H. Figuarts line. I have Goku, and it's awesome) I would not recommend these to kids only because they do seem a little fragile and they come with a shit load of little pieces. I mean seriously, here is what the Red Ranger came with:
-5 pairs of hands for different grips and poses
-Blade Blaster in storage mode
-Blade Blaster in Blade Mode
-Blade Blaster in Blaster Mode
-Thunder Slinger
-Blade Blaster Thunder Slinger in Combined Mode
-Power Sword
*censored*ing WOW anyone?
The Green Ranger didn't come with as much (mainly because he doesn't use a Blade Blaster) but what he did come with is still amazing.
-5 Pairs of Hands
-Dragon Dagger
-Sword of Darkness (about time too since this was essential for when he was the "Evil" Green Ranger a weapon we should have had back in 1993, sheesh)
Hell yeah. NTM every little detial on the weapons are fully painted. They even placed a transparent red orb in the hilt of the Green Rangers Sword of Darkness... WOW! No more all grey, black, or white weapons here.
So if your a fan of the Japanese "Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger" like myself or America's "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" again, like myself, get them. Granted they weren't cheap as I paid $100 shipped for both of these guys, but well worth it. They are supposed to be shipping to Toys "R" Us stores, and I am sure with a much friendlier price tag of $35 each. I just didn't want to wait that long, and TRU tends to take forever to get stuff in. NTM my local TRU might not get these at all, and that has happened with other items in the past and more times than I care to think about. Bastards.
Within the next 12 months they will be releasing the whole team, including the White Ranger, Red Ranger (with Green Rangers Armor), and both male and female Yellow Rangers (yes the Yellow Ranger in Japan was a guy, but he was short and thin enough to pass as a female hence why they casted Thuy Trang (R.I.P) to play Trini yet used Japanese footage of a male. Ever question why only the Pink Ranger wore a skirt? Now you know)
Here is an action shot of these bad boys
Next up is another tremendous want of mine
1960's Batman TV Show Figures. Hell yeah! These are a mainstream item. I know Toys "R" Us and Walmart are selling these in stores, and Target is selling them on their wesite only. The likeness on Adam West is uncanny... Burt Ward, not so much. As you can see they are climbing a wall like in the show. You can hang this display on a wall, or you can display it on a desktop and pose their capes (the capes have wires in them) outward to recreate a "Behind the scenes" effect like they did in real life since that is exactly how they filmed those wall climbing scenes... they were really on a floor, get it?. Cool!
The Villans look great so far. Series 1 consits of
Batman- Adam West
Riddler- Frank Gorshin
and
Penguin- Burgess Meredith
Series 2 will have
Surfs Up Batman- Same figure as before but with yellow bathing trunks and Bat Surf Board
Joker- Ceser Romero (they even included his painted over moustach, like he had in real life)
and
Catwoman- Julie Newmar
All come with a Display Stand that says either Pow, Bam, Kaa-Pow, etc (you know, like in the show) and a part of a Batcave backdrop. When you gat all the figures their combined backdrops will look like one big scene display.
This 2 pack I have was the only way to get Robin. There was also a SDCC Batusi Dancing Batman exclusive, (total pass for me) and they also have the Batmobile Available in 6" Figure scale (rare for these days) Although $59.99 is a little pricey for a hollow piece of plastic with wheels, and no lights nor sounds. Detailed, but hollow non-the-less. Who the hell am I kidding, I'm buying one when I see it.
So this just proves that anything is possible. These are items I never would have thought to have ever seen in my lifetime. So with that said we may very get our 1:1 Scale non-stiched Chucky... that actually looks like him too. Just takes patience.
