New to here, just my opinions (spoilers welcome)

Hello everyone,

After a couple days of lurking as a guest, I have finally made an account. Just figure I'd make a thread and share my thoughts and whatnot on this upcoming flick. I don't mind spoilers (please use the spoiler tag though!) because as any true fan of the Chuckster, I am going to buy this movie and watch it over and over, regardless of any spoilers I read.

I know about "the mask" he has on.

I know about Tiffany and Andy's cameos, I wish Andy would have never left the franchise to begin with.

When it comes to this movie, I have grown increasingly frustrated with a lot of the questions I have seen out on the net, most of which is the "how can he come back?" or "how can he come back without scars?" I have read almost every spoiler posted her in the last week or so. But my response to people who ask that is simple - just go back and watch the movies. Every single movie details how he comes back, and without any affect from his previous death (like how he gets dismembered, melted, and blown up in Child's Play 2, but gets a new body in 3). I don't know, I just get really pissed off when people say "there's no way he can come back without scars, etc." because it just makes me think they aren't true Chucky fans and haven't truly watched the first three.

While Child's Play 1 is the best, I will say the second is my favorite, just because it felt more "real" to me (I was about the same age as Andy when I saw the second one, and horror movies with school scenes always kind of relate the movie more to me). I always like to joke about the scene in the first movie when Andy is in bed with Chucky and he kisses him and says he loves him, like "what if somehow that cured the hatred in Chucky's heart and it changed his ways and Chucky went on to be a father figure for Andy?" Stupid, but always fun to imagine dumb stuff like that.

Anyway just thought I'd make a post and get myself out there, this place seems pretty cool and I look forward to contributing to a community that I can say is truly full of authentic Chucky fans.

Couldn't agree more about Child's Play 1 being the best of the bunch. Think my list would actually read chronologically with Child's Play being the best and Seed being by far the worst. Some people like Seed, but I just didn't get it

Agreed, I like the humor in the movies, but as a subtle addition, not a driving force of the movie. Like in 2 when Kyle is tanning into him with the car and he goes "Ya god damn women drivers!" or in the original when the old lady says he's an ugly doll and as the elevator descends, he let's out that "Fuuuck you."

It's nice to see him returning back to scary, and I hope there's more movies to come, and they add more closure with the characters from the first three movies, even if it's just Chucky killing a Tyler / Mike Norris / etc. in a brief opening scene.

Yeah it'd be nice to see a few old characters back for future films. Wouldn't want them doing too much with too many of them though. You get too much explained and it takes away the fun of using your imagination.

It'd be cool to check in on Karen Barclay and find out what stage she's at after the events of Child's Play. It's been 25 years now, so surely (you'd think) she's learnt to just nod her head and admit she was wrong in order to get free of wherever she's been held.

Maybe nice to see if Andy kept in touch with Tyler. I could imagine them talking often just to keep tracks on each other for if Chucky should ever creep into their lives again. Especially now with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all that. It'd be a nice touch, even if it was just a quick mention.

Also, there's been a little trouble with a troll recently. Basically joined here, picked a fight with the sites creator Dr Death. So basically he gave Dr Death no option but to ban him, then he decided to hit various social media trying to bad mouth this site. So basically, so long as you're polite and not foul and abusive to other members you should fit in well. Dr Death and the other moderators run a tight ship, but so long as you follow the rules you'll be golden. Lol

I always wondered what would become of the people Andy fought against Chucky with. You figure after a while people would quit doubting Andy (assuming the toy company could keep a close lid on things), but with every movie the witness list grows and grows. I am a little curious as to how Alice will be used in Curse, seeing the trailer never shows her near an "alive" Chucky. I hope she just doesn't hide the whole movie and becomes insignificant, because the kid being the one to kill Chucky is always more satisfying than some adult with a gun.

I understand what you mean about fans asking questions like that. If anything I get more irritated by the people who make comments like "Where are his stitches? Isn't Chucky supposed to have stitches"

Comments like that prove to me more and more the younger generations have no appreciation for history, nor care to explore it. I see this alot with my nephew and nices. My nephew claiming to be a huge "Transformers Fan" yet has no intrest and will even put up a fight about watching anything related to the 1984 cartoon. He maybe my nephew but what an @$$hole. When I was a kid and when the 1989 Batman was a hot topic, family channel too advantage and started airing reruns of the 1966 Batman with Adam West and Burt Ward. My father recorded these since this was "his" Batman, and he wanted me to share the joy he used to have as kid. The curiosity alone made me want to watch these and I have seen every episode. I am a fan of all aspects of Batman, whether they be the campy comedic 1960's TV show, or the dark Frank Miller graphic novels.

This is what being a fan is, and nothing pisses me off more than Chucky fans that came into the game with Bride and Seed, and yet give no acknowledgement to the original 3 films.

I am not saying I am against all fans of Bride and Seed, because I like those movies too in their own way, but I hate it when fans don't want to become aquanted with the roots of the original concept.

This also brings up a good question...

Will Curse disappoint diehard Bride and Seed fans?

Dragon Prime I have exactly the same problem with my girlfriend's brother and Judge Dredd.

He loves the 95 Stallone cluster *censored* that took everything from the source material and sugar coated it for Hollywood.

Then I give him copies of 2000AD, graphic novels and stuff and he's like "This isn't Judge Dredd. He doesn't take his helmet off and it's violent" Reality check, Dredd doesn't take his helmet off, and it IS violent.

Then I have to explain to him that what he has already seen is a watered down, crowd pleasing, money spinning (or an attempt at) movie.

I gave him the recent one, Dredd, to watch and he hated it. Said he didn't like it because Dredd came across a little Dirty Harry and it all took place in a mega block. But I'm like "This is what Judge Dredd is!"

They basically made that movie for a very small budget and hit every nail spot on, from characters, locations, little bits of dialogue (like recyc wagons, iso-cubes, in the opening chase there's a leather jacket with Drokk & Stomm stitched on the back). Just the attention to proper detail from the original source material was immense from that movie. I came away as a proper fan really satisfied with how that turned out.

For me, that Stallone film is Judge Dredd in name, but not in heart. Hollywood chewed it up and spat out a diluted movie to pull everybody in. A Dredd movie shouldn't be trying to appeal to kids. Not in the way they did it.

I am not too familiar with Judge Dredd but I do know enough about it to know that the Stallone movie was not an accurate depiction. I did like the movie, but I can see where fans of the Comic wouldn't take to it. The same can be said for Spawn and Dragonball Evolution. Although the Spawn movie was successful for it being 1997, looking back it does dish out it's fair share of camp and cheese. I hope they make a Spawn reboot someday and it is more than worthy to get thet Nolanesque treatment. Nothing too serious like the Comic or HBO animated show, but not too kid oriented like the '97 film. Something in the middle like the PS2 game would be awesome. DragonBall deserves it's own thread. Also, I was not a fan of how Deadpool was portrayed in X-Men Origins: Wolverine... way off base.

It is sad really because sometimes the Movie will kill the Comic Book star. By this I mean, because of a films popularity, the Comic may follow suit in certain aspect to make it appear to be one coherent universe. An example of this would be how Marvel decided to find a way to have Spider-Man shoot his webs organically without the use of his "web shooters". They did this because of the increased fan base that the Spider-Man movies had attracted.

Me personally, I just try to pick the best of eveything and be happy with what I have when all is said and done. Especially when dealing with comics, into animation, into film, etc.

Anyway, this is a Chucky discussion so I'll get back on track to that. Granted Chucky isn't a Comic, but now with Curse coming out and delivering on the "Taking place after the events of CP3" concept, it would now as though appear that Bride and Seed are in their own Universe. We will have to wait and see how much, if at all, Curse referrences those two films but it looks like we now have split universes in the Child's Play franchise. I have to wonder if the fandom is going to be split as well, or if this movie is open ended enough where all fans can feel included on the action. I know the Halloween frianchise did this with H20 by not taking H3 (obviously), H4, H5, and H6 into account. But at the same time it was done in a way where one could argue that those films are still in cannon with H20. Maybe Curse managed to pull off the immpossible and managed to get back on track while staying in vein with the foundations laid my the comedic aspect. Kind of weird when you think about it.

{Spoiler}It was done this way so fans can pick either or. Let's face it there are 2 types of Chucky fans and it was Don's job as a director to make ALL of his fans want to see it. Of course many of us are very passionate about our likes and dislikes of the whole franchise. I will say this, if Don had done it this way on purpose then he is much smarter than anyone gives him credit for and he needs to be making movies more often.

This could give us a definitive answer once we see it as to whether it follows CP3 or Seed.

I know. There's different spoilers going around. Someone will say some spoilers and then someone else says a different thing. I know I asked the same questions several times just to get the truth. It's come to a point to where I found some of what's been confirmed from some of the spoilers, the reviews and the interviews and I should just see the movie.
