I'm starting to lose my love for the Child's Play franchise. Why? Damballa, and voodoo. They don't make sense. I know these aren't even very relevant to much of the core plot, but I've always suffered from overthinking. I've overthought movies to the point I stopped liking them before, and I don't want that to happen to this series. If Damballa is a good god who created our universe, evil voodoo magic such as voodoo dolls shouldn't even exist. If Damballa is all-powerful, there shouldn't be any limitations to the chant and an amulet to surpass these limitations wouldn't be necessary. The fact that you need to transfer your soul into the first person you revealed your true self to makes no sense. When I was younger, I didn't think much about Damballa, and just thought "meh it's voodoo." But now, I can't stop overthinking. The thing most Child's Play fans fail to realize is that the chant isn't just any chant, it had to be created by Damballa himself. Why would he add these dumb rules? Why would he allow black voodoo magic to exist? I know it isn't something I should even care about while watching the films, but the overthinking has started... and it won't stop. Am I wrong on my facts and there's more voodoo gods besides Damballa, perhaps evil ones? I know there is in real life voodoo. Perhaps Damballa is limited in power and his magic chant is therefore limited as well? Though I don't see why a god would have enough power to create a universe but not a simple magic chant. You probably don't understand my overthinking, but stuff like this keeps me awake at night trying to think of explanations, but I can't. If I'm wrong on my facts about voodoo and Damballa in the Child's Play universe, please tell me, and if you have reasonable explanations to how evil voodoo magic can exist (like I said, perhaps there's evil voodoo gods), please share. I probably seem annoying, but my overthinking is so bad I would class it as a mental disorder. If I can't get out of this knot... then I guess I'll be done with this franchise.
