Hey Guys so last night i dropped acid and watched Childs play 2. Needless to say i was engaged in a whole new light. I wanted to make a post to talk about some cool things i observed and things that bothered me.
Firstly the opening score is pure perfection, as soon as you hear the playful/sinister music you understand full well this is chucky's revenge and we have just been pulled into his path of destruction. Interesting enough as you listen to this deconstruction musically you are treated VISUALLY to chuckys reconstruction. When we catch up with Andy he is still surviving the aftermath of chuck's rain. Something i notice about any in this film is his characters progression since the last film. Andy is no longer the innocent boy who's nightmare came true, the event changed him mentally. Alex Vincent portrays Andy as a distant child with deep thoughts. As we see andy adjust he is ever cautious in every step he makes. His reality has been altered and he lives in his reality alone, the adults refuse to indulge andy in his claims and is forced to adapt. But andy WANTS to adjust to see this especially when he befriends the Tommy the good guy doll. He understands who he is and what people will worry about him, so he bravely totes tommy around, Andy is brave. This is perfect because Chucky the doll is more sinister both in character and his physical anamatronics then we have ever seen him before. His murder count in this movie is through the roof and whats more is your on HIS side the entire time. When you watch Chucky walk out of the classroom closet with that ruler you cant help but WANT chucky to kill Kettelwell, He murders every bad teacher you have ever had and it feels good to watch him do it. Chucky is no longer hesetitent to show himself, time is of the essence and anyone who stands in his way will feel it. The second andy becomes aware of chuckys pressence andy switches gears, In this film we see the bravest andy we have ever witnessed. First chance Andy gets he bravely equips himself with a weapon and then proceeds to HUNT for chucky. He is aware of the threat in the house and he steps up to the role of gurdain of his adoptive family. I really enjoyed that, i enjoyed seeing these two characters out for one another. This film also go's out of its way to show the very intresting relationships Between phil and joanne. You get the sorrow of their story and where they are in life. Phil plays bad guy number 2 and well. You spend a majority of this film disliking him from his questioning andy to his argument about andy becoming a danger to the family. Andys caution and trust in kyle makes her kind of a creeper character, she makes it clear that she has her own thing going and thats who she plays up untill andys warning to her. ITs intresting to see her become activated as a person you should care about and the film puts in the foundation to support her as she does it. One very impressive thing is the clock during the altercation between Kyle and Chucky there is a clear shot of the time, it is after 10:30pm and immediately you are put into the timeframe of this event.
Im going to stop here because this is long as is and i dont know how many people will even respond to this lol.
One thing i dont like about this film, just one. When Andy gets on the school bus to head off to school there is a child in a red jacket that shoves andy for no apparent reason. Thats is all.
I just feel as if that kid should in someway get what he deserved, he could have seen chucky or been killed.
