I'm watching this movie on AMC right now. Even though I admit I purchased the dvd back at the time, I hadn't seen it in years and I truly forgotten how bad this movie is. And when I say bad, I mean in terms of quality established by the other Halloween films. I still enjoy watching it. It just doesn't seem to compliment the series as a whole. It took a serious dip in quality and seems more suited for the Friday the 13th series. Ironically enough it was directed by Rick Rosenthal who directed Halloween 2, an inferior follow up to one of the greatest horror films ever but still a good movie.
I refuse to put all the blame on Busta Rhymes, everyone seems to make him the scapegoat as to why the movie was so bad when in my opinion the movie could have been cast with Denzel Washington and it still would be one of the worst sequel's. he wasn't a bad actor I just like many others did not want to see Busta rhymes "hong kong fooey" Michael Myers nor did I ever think I'd get the opportunity to see it .
It's a completely gratuitous body count film that served no purpose in furthering the Halloween mythos other than being a popcorn movie. It suffered from the Frankenstein meets laurel and Hardy syndrome where the film makers use some novelty to pair it's franchise to make it relevant. Thus we have Michael Myers meets reality t.v. This film in all aspects seems to be like a blast from the past, (in a bad way) filled with tons of dated cliche's and slasher movie stereotypes. I love how they took so many opportunities to reference H20, it's much superior predecessor reminding us how bad it is.
And can someone please tell me why it is that if the "Sarah Moyer" , character had no history with the Michael Myers yet all through out the film they reference the other films by plaguing the character with the same constant hallucinations of him ? This movie irks me.
