So i was thinking about the original script (Bloody Buddy) and how that played but how it would not have Chucky as the real, individual character that he is. I was trying to come up with a way to rewrite the story to please not only the fans, but to get rid of some of the elements that Mancini really doesn't like (voodoo). Also in my concept, there is a little more of the mystery of whether or not it is Andy or the doll killing people.
Here we go:
We start on Andy's 8th birthday. (a shot of a paper mache good guy face is center frame in the first shot. It is the smashed with a stick. A pinata) He is having a birthday party, kids running about, playing games and the like. All the decorations, the cake, the games, all of it, is Good Guys themed. The party is being overseen by a handsome, if not slightly vain seeming man. He announces it is time for presents. Andy takes a seat at the table of gifts. He opens several, thanking his friends. He finishes aff all the gifts but seems slightly disappointed.
"I wish my Mom was here" Andy says
""I know sport, she should be here soon tho."
"I hope so"
Soon after Karen Barclay does show up. She is a slightly frazzled looking bussiness woman. In her arms is a huge box which she presents to Andy.
"Here you go sweety. Sorry I am so late. A meeting ran long. However, from me and every one at work, you are one of the first little boys to have one of these" Andy unwraps the box revealing a modern take on A Good Guy Doll. There is a list of features listed off about all the things the doll can do (more than just head turning and talking, think more like the revamped Furby from a few years ago). Andy is ecstatic and hugs his mom.
That night Andy is playing with the doll while KAren and the man from the party are sitting on the couch talking. It's revealed that this is her boyfriend, Vince. It is also revealed that KAren works for Play Pals as a marketing executive. During the conversation Karen gets a phone call on her cell and has to leave. In the next scene we learn that Andy and Vince have a slightly strained relationship. Andy is a little defiant and Vince goes a little to far teasing Andy sometimes. Eventually Vince puts Andy to bed and the rest of the scene plays a lot like Aunt Maggie's murder.
The next scene is at the police station, Karen shows up and is told about what happened. She asks where Andy is. He is being questioned by the police and a social worker. With him, of course, is Chucky. We meet Mike Norris, a no-nonsense detective. He talks to Karen about what happened. The social worker tells Karen that they would like to take Andy with them and have him spend at least a night or two under observation. Karen agrees. She takes a moment to talk to Andy alone. This is where we learn Chucky's full name from Andy. We follow Andy (with Chucky) to the hospital. The doctors talk to Andy and ask again what happened. He insists it was Chucky. The doctors decide to take Chucky away. Andy is upset by this but is powerless to stop them. As they leave andy we hear the doctors talking about what to do with the doll. The doctors say that if Andy doesn't stop insisting the doll is alive then they will have to disassemble the doll in front of Andy to show him that it is not really alive.
We then cut to one of the doctors in his office working on paperwork. It's quiet. We see Chucky sitting on a chair in the corner of the room. He looks over at the doll "You're really creep, you know that?" he says to the doll. "You're my new best friend to the end!" the doll responds. The doctor gets up and leaves the office. We follow him doing what he does and when he gets back he noticed that the doll is gone. He sighs and leaves again. We follow him down the halls and finally end up at Andy's room. He looks into Andy's room and sees Chucky sitting at the end of the bed. He goes into the room.
"Andy....Andy, i know you aren't asleep." He is clearly aggravated.
Andy wakes up. "Yes I was"
"Then please explain to me then, how HE got here huh?" He points to the doll.
"Chucky! Where did you come from?"
"You know very well that you stole him out of my office, Andy. You know that Chucky is a doll. Here, i'll show you."
He picks up the doll taps on his face, pointing out that it's rubber. He then flips the doll over. He says that he is going to take out the batteries and Andy will see that without them that the doll can't move on its own. He opens the back of the dolls shirt and opens the battery pack. Empty. He flips the doll back over to look at it. He is clearly afraid. "Hi I'm Chucky. Wanna Play?" The doll says. Chucky quickly pulls a pen out of the Doctor's pocket and stabs him in the throat. We then cut to Andy escaping the hospital with Chucky.
Andy goes home with the doll and finds his house empty. We cut to Karen at work getting a call from the police saying that they heard from the hospital that Andy had escaped. Karen tell Mike that Andy was told to go home if was ever lost or afraid. They both meet in the lobby of the appartment complex and start talking. Karen talks about what Andy has said about the doll being alive and about its full name. The name make Mike stop. He askes where Andy heard that name. She admits she didn't know. Mike talls Karen about CLR and that he was the one that killed him.
We go to a flashback of Mike chasing CLR into the factory where the dolls are made. Make chases CLR around the machinesuntill he finally has a shot. When he shoots, however, the blood sprays ont an unfinished doll. As CLR dies, we see his blooddripping through the doll. Once he is finally dead, we see the dolls fingers flex. Mike sees none of this.
They both head up stairs but before they head in they wait, listening to voices at the door. One is clearly Andy's the other is man's voice. Karen looks scared and puzzed, Mike however looks like he has seen a ghost.
"That's Ray's voice, i would know it anywhere."
They go in, mike with gun trained on the doll. He threatens to shoot the doll, which doesn't move. He tells the doll he knows its CLR. This prompts the doll to jump up and imeadatly grab Andy like a hostage.
I haven't really worked out the rest except that chucky runs off to Tiffany and there is a showdown.
Tell me what you think and feel free to elaborate on it.
